Individual Therapy

When working with individuals I see myself as part of a team. I offer my training, experience and ideas and you offer your own expertise of your knowledge and experiences in your life. We come together and explore the goals you want to achieve and together we analyze and decide which of the various evidence based practices I offer, including Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR), which I find is truly effective with trauma, but also with stubborn ingrained interpersonal dynamics and negative thinking that supports these dynamics. I also often use Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), which is a great approach for those of us high achieving and motivated folks that are no nonsense and want to just move through the process quickly ( for better or worse). I also offer Narrative Therapy (NT), which I find works very well with younger children and neurodiverginant folks. In offering Motivational Therapy, I find that the more stubborn habits that we have developed to face and survive the world we live in, can be well addressed and massaged/molded into new behaviors if we are willing.

Family Therapy

I adore working with families because I am a firm believer in systems. No one lives truly alone and we all have a context, the family, school, work, and society in general that influence and affect us daily. Working with the system means not only quicker access to all the issues, but also possibly quicker movement and solutions. More importantly, I find that interventions made at a system level, family, school, and community, become more effective and long lasting because they impact more people, change more hearts and give more support to a larger system. I often use the evidence based practice of Brief Strategic Family therapy.

Couple’s Therapy

While family therapy works with more folks and thus has a large net effect, the couple is the leadership building block of the family and if we want to focus our resources, seeing a couple is a fantastic opportunity to begin making changes for either the present or a future family. If you have multiple children struggling in a system, it is likely that working with the couple could easily change the trajectory of the family unit. Working with couples, I like to depend on an Integrative Behavioral Couple’s Therapy approach, but building a strong understanding of the couples’ history and foundations is of key import.

For all psychotherapy services, I offer both direct services or out of pocket pay structures and/or can see folks who have certain insurance providers. I do have a sliding scale fee structure as well. As for insurance providers, I currently see people through the Headway Platform and can take the following coverage:·

      Aetna·
     Anthem

Blue Cross

Blue Shield

Carelon Behavioral Health

Cigna and

Optum

"EMDR therapy is a relatively new — but very effective — method of helping people with traumatic memories. It’s also an option for people of all ages, including children. Though this treatment is best known for its use in treating PTSD, ongoing research shows it can treat many other conditions." - Cleveland Clinic's Health Library from 03/29/2022

"SFBT ( Solution Focused Brief Therapy) is an effective therapeutic approach for various psychological, social, school, medical, couple, or self-related issues." - National Library of Medicine, Sept 2025

Narrative therapy appears to offer benefits in the treatment of a number of different conditions and in a variety of settings. Some evidence supporting the effectiveness of this approach:

One 2020 study found that adults with depression and anxiety who were treated with narrative therapy experienced improvements in self-reported quality of life and decreased symptoms of anxiety and depression.4

A 2016 study found that narrative therapy was effective at helping children improve empathy, decision-making, and social skills.5Beaudoin M, Moersch M, Evare BS. The effectiveness of narrative therapy with children’s social and emotional skill development: An empirical study of 813 problem-solving stories. Journal of Systemic Therapies. 2016;(35)3: 42-59. doi:10.1521/jsyt.2016.35.3.42

Other research from 2020 has found that married women experienced increased levels of marital satisfaction after being treated with narrative therapy.6
